Knock Me a Kiss

Knock Me a Kiss is well-known, real-life story: how in 1928 Yolande Du Bois (Erin Cherry), only child of W.E.B. Du Bois, marries the poet Countee Cullen (Sean Phillips) in the wedding of the century. The marriage quickly falls apart, apparently after Cullen tells his new wife that he prefers men.

The production won nine 2011 Audelco Awards: Best Play; Lead Actor, André De Shields; Supporting Actress, Marie Thomas; Playwright, Charles Smith; Director, Chuck Smith; Lighting, Shirley Prendergast; Costume, Ali Turns; Scenic Design, Anthony Davis; Sound, Bill Toles.
