A biographical musical by playwright Vincent D. Smith, depicting the careers of black vaudeville stars Bert Williams and George Walker, who by some accounts were the first, black entertainment “superstars”.
According to NY Press.com, “…Smith dramatizes Williams and Walker’s ambivalence, making it deeply felt, both noble and tragic”.
Vondie Curtis-Hall won the 1987 Audelco Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of George Walker.
