Timothy Simonson is perhaps best known for his portrayals of Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., initially in the 1983 NFT production of The Trial of Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. by Billy Graham, and then again in a one-man show, Adam by Peter DeAnda which premiered in 2012. Simonson performed the play at the 2013 National Black Theatre Festival, and in a 2017 production at NFT.
Simonson played the W.E.B. Dubois in the original 2014 production of Dr. Du Bois and Miss Ovington. Other credits include Jonin at the Public Theatre and The Contract at FSWW Loft Theatre
