Woodie King Jr. is an award-winning author, director, and producer who founded New Federal Theatre in 1970, and continues to serve as its Producing Director. Early in his career who worked for the Ford Motor Company as an arc welder, and as a draftsman for the City of Detroit. In 1965, King joined Mobilization for Youth, where he spent the next five years working as the cultural director.
