Quay Truitt (also known as Quay Truitt Barnes) designed costumes for both dance and theatre. However, we found less than a dozen references to her costume design work on Google.
One early mention was for a 1973 ballet called Jungle, choreographed by Rudi van Dantzig. In addition, based on a dedication from a student she trained there, we infer she was the in-house Costume designer at Cleveland’s Karamu House, the “oldest Black theatre in the country” founded in 1917.
