Paul Milikin was born on the Connecticut coast, in the lobstering and shipbuilding village of Noank, in New London County. Eugene O’Neill, who summered in this region, and set Long Day’s Journey Into Night in nearby New London, remains a vital presence in this part of New England. So there is a touch of destiny in Paul having been cast in the famous 1958 Spoleto Festival production of A Moon for the Misbegotten directed by José Quintero, along with Coleen Dewhurst and Richard Kiley. He was a graduate in Drama from the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Paul worked in film and television, as well as theatre. His theatre work included A Christmas Carol at Ford’s Theatre, in Washington, D.C., and he appeared in the film You Can’t Go Home Again, among others.
In addition, Paul was politically engaged, both on behalf of the theatre world, and beyond. He served for many years as an elected Councillor of the Actor’s Equity Association, its governing body. He was also a member of the union negotiating team that helped create the New York City apartment complex, Manhattan Plaza, as affordable housing for the performing arts community.
