Melody Beal

MELODY BEAL is a lighting designer and technical manager who graduated from Lehman College with a bachelor of arts degree. She has created lighting design for the Fred Benjamin Dance Company and serves as resident light designer for La-Guardia Community College.

As of 2019, Beal has devoted more than 20 years to Philadanco as the lighting and technical assistant under the direction and tutelage of the late William H. Grant, III. Beal tours extensively with Philadanco and works as the lighting, technical, and stage manager for several theater, music, and dance productions in New York City and throughout the world.

She has received several Audelco Awards for “Lighting and Design.” Beal currently designs for Emerging Choreographers Project at LPAC, Walk Hard at the Metropolitan Theatre, and Don’t Bother Me I Can Cope at the York Theatre.
