Maryam Myika Day is an actress, author, storyteller and Telly Award-winning producer.
Maryam joins Season 4 of NBC’s THIS IS US as Dr. Meyer.
Also appearing in a supporting role for feature film, Smartass starring Joey King of FX’s “Fargo,” currently airing on iTunes. She penned the untold story of Motown’s Tammi Terrell in the upcoming biopic Mountain High, starring Kat Graham of “The Vampire Diaries.” Maryam is screenwriter for John Sacchi’s 5 More Minute Productions’ film, Vegas Jade. Her made-for-television movie script about Jennifer Jones, the first African American Radio City Rockette, has been optioned by Mar Vista Entertainment. In 2020, she penned A Sisterly Christmas also for Mar Vista Entertaiment. Inspired by her life Maryam, created the podcast, “North of 40,” streaming on wherever you get your podcasts.
For television, she earned three Telly Awards for producing “Real Moms, Real Stories, Real Savvy” featured on PBS and Disney.com. As an actress, she has appeared on NBC’s “Law & Order,” FX’s “Rescue Me,” Sony Pictures’ television movie “Fort Pit,” the independent feature Palm Swings alongside Jason Lewis (“Sex and the City”), and a lead role in the pilot “MYS*EDU*CA*TION.” Her short film, Waiting for SuperMEN?! premiered at the prestigious Palm Springs International Short Film Festival (2013). For the stage, Maryam made her Broadway debut as one of the iconic chorines in the 2001 Tony Award-winning revival of 42nd Street. Additionally, Maryam has appeared on Off-Broadway stages in performances with the Negro Ensemble’s world premiere of Offspring, and the New York premiere of Satchel for New Federal Theatre, both of which earned her Audelco award nominations honoring excellence in black theatre. She also written for the stage, creating a two-person play entitled, Love Me RICHIE! which received its world premiere in 2013 at the Hollywood Fringe Festival and was later developed at The Lark theatre laboratory program in New York City.
As a problem solver and strategist, Maryam has consulted for Fortune 500 companies, the likes of Microsoft, Toyota, BMW, DHL, and more. She has guest taught at universities in the California area like: the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, College of the Canyons and the Los Angeles Film School. She has created think-tank for Career Transitions for Dancers and currently lending her skillset to Wake Up & Vote campaign, in an effort to get out the 2020 vote. Currently, she is enjoying her time serving as a Creative Producer for Panay Films.
Maryam’s professional acting training includes work with the late Israel Hicks, Susan Batson, Black Nexxus, Inc. and master teacher, Ivana Chubbuck. She holds a BFA from Temple University (Philadelphia) and was a 2013 “chemistry reads” finalist in the NBC Diversity Showcase. Her commercial work (national network, cable, radio voiceover) includes Burger King, Carl’s Jr., McDonald’s, Honda and Western Union.
A New York City native, Maryam resides in Los Angeles with her beautiful pre-school aged daughter.
