Dianne McIntyre is a dancer, choreographer, curator, and cultural investigator who creates work in dance, theatre (Broadway and regional), film, and opera.
Known f
or collaborations with live music, she has toured internationally with her company including appearances at the Joyce Theater, Kennedy Center, and Lincoln Center. She has held residencies at Baryshnikov Arts Center and Dance Place, with recent commissions by Dance Theatre of Harlem and New York Live Arts.
Screen credits include Beloved and Miss Evers’ Boys, garnering her an Emmy nomination. Her dance-driven dramas, drawn from interviews, include I Could Stop on a Dime…, and Open the Door, Virginia!
Honors include a 2020 United States Artists Fellowship, 2019 Dance/USA Honor Award, three New York Dance and Performance (Bessies) Awards, 2016 Doris Duke Artist Award, a 2007 Guggenheim Fellowship, two honorary degrees, and numerous grants as she continues to mentor, teach, and choreograph with her own company, other recognized companies, and university dance ensembles.
