Angeline Butler

Angline Butler began her performing career in 1963.

Composer Elmer Bernstein took Angeline on her first solo appearance on a TV show — “Joe Franklin’s Memory Lane” — to sing his then new song “A Wishing Doll.”

She was the Lead Actress on Russ Tillman’s”The Infinity Factory” and Supporting Actress for 10 shows on the CBS soap opera, “The Guiding Light,” Louise Johnson, a Social Worker (Producer, Lucy Rittenberg}.

As a Singer and Talk Show Guest, she was on the ABC Dick Cavett Morning Show (10 performances), Johnny Carson “Tonight Show,” (multiple performances) Virginia Graham “Girl Talk,” Steve Allen Show, Rosie Grier Show, Hugh Hefner’s “Playboy after Dark,” and many others.

Theatrical Performances in “Jesus Christ Superstar” (Mary Magdalene) Gaiety Theatre, Dublin, “Playin’ Porter” (A Cole Porter Review) Cork Opera House and the Gaiety Theatre, “The Trial of The Moke” (Milwaukee Repertory Theatre), various projects at the New York Public Theatre and many others.

As an Educator, she was a Director in Educational Theatre at California State Northridge “Les Blancs,” and Alberto Aluristo’s “Dawn.” Coordinator/Founder of the “Ellington Tree” Series, University of Southern California; Producer-Coordinator, California Afro- American Museum Smithsonian “Beyond Category: The Musical Genius of Duke Ellington” cultural events with the Louie Bellson Orchetra, the H.B. Barnum Orchestra, The Bill Berry Band.

In 2015 and 2016, Angeline produced concerts at John Jay College Gerald W. Lynch Theater with Cobi Narita Celebrating Women in Music and “Songbirds 2: Women in Drama” honoring 101 year old Gertrude Jeannette.

She earned a MA in Music-Ethnomusicology-Drama from Columbia Unviersity, and holds a BA in Music From Fisk University in Nashville.
