Michael Chenevert

Michael is a proud native of Detroit, Michigan, with southern Creole heritage. Philanthropy, activism and entertainment were common themes that shaped his upbringing. These influences piqued his political awareness catching the attention of family friend and playwright Ron Milner, creator of Checkmates, Denzel Washington’s Broadway debut. Impressed with Michael’s acting potential, Milner offered him a role in the production One Monkey Don’t No Show, performing alongside the likes of Kim Fields and Marla Gibbs, and marking the beginning of his professional career.

Michael is committed to providing his characters with dignity and depth, ensuring each role is performed with authenticity. He graduated with his BFA at the University of Detroit Mercy, furthering his craft at The Lir Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College. He later studied with The Barrow Group in New York City. Presently, Michael trains with acclaimed acting coach Susan Batson.

You may recognize Michael from The Godfather of Harlem, across from Academy Award winning actor Forest Whitaker. He’s also worked alongside leading men including Michael Ealy, Jeffrey Wright and Malik Yoba. When Michael isn’t acting or producing, he’s spending quality time with his family and friends.

He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
