Harrison grew up in Maryland, just outside of Washington D.C. with the birth name Stanley Earl Harrison, which he used professionally until he met fellow actor and his future Shakespearean acting coach, Stanley Harrison. He decided to change his stage name when both their agents sent them to each others’ auditions. The fourth of five siblings (2 men, 3 women), Harrison attended public school in Prince George’s County, Maryland. His father owned a barber shop for over 40 years, and his mother was a teacher, a school principal, and a social worker. Harrison Lee is an accomplished dancer who began his studies at the Alvin Ailey School, where he later taught jazz, and was on scholarship at Dance Theatre of Harlem. He performed with the companies of Rod Rodgers, Chamber Dance Group, and Fred Benjamin before moving on to national tours and Broadway. Today he continues to take Salsa and Ballet classes, and currently teaches BALLET FOR BABY BOOMERS at Rod Rodgers Dance Studios 62 East 4th St. NYC.
