Sonita L. Surratt is an award winning classically trained vocalist, playwright, actor, director, sound designer and ‘voice for the actor’ professor at Columbia College – Chicago. She was the recipient of the 2012 Black Theatre Alliance Best Sound Design Award. Other awards include the National Association of Teachers Vocal Competition Silver Ribbon Award,
Ms.Surratt is a USAF veteran and holds a presidential medal of honor. After her military career, she pursued her passions and obtained a BA in Music and an MFA in Theatre from Syracuse University.
