J.C. Quinn (November 30, 1940 – February 10, 2004) was an American film and theatre actor. His acting career included stage, television and film television roles.
Born in Philadelphia, Quinn relocated to New York City to study acting. He spent 17 years there, active in stage productions, before moving to Hollywood to act in films.
With his rugged facial features and gravelly voice, Quinn was Elmo, a cook in the 1985 movie Vision Quest with Matthew Modine. The downtrodden Elmo gives his “That Six Minutes” speech (about the meaning all events have in the grand scheme of life), which inspires Modine’s character, Louden Swain, to pursue his Vision Quest.
Quinn’s television credits include appearances on Cagney and Lacey, Miami Vice, Quantum Leap, Dawson’s Creek, and Cheers.
Quinn died in a car crash in Juarez, Mexico on February 10, 2004. He was 63 and had appeared in over 50 feature films. –Wikipedia
