Charles Michael Moore, a playwright, actor and director who worked extensively in the African-American theatre, died Sept. 25 at the age of 54, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Mr. Moore was in the middle of directing It’s Showdown Time by Don Evans for Chicago’s eta Creative Arts Foundation [sic]. Mr. Moore’s plays, which included Love’s Light in Flight and The Hooch, were produced by such theatres as the Black Ensemble Theater, Congo Square Theater Company and Chicago Theater Company. He often directed his own work.
