William “Bill” Grant was a “legendary” lighting designer who trained many current practitioners. He was the original designer for DanceAfrica, which performed at BAM from 1975, and lit for the Alvin Ailey Dance Center.
He died in 2014.
He is variously credited as “Bill Grant”, “William Grant”, and “William H. Grant III”.
