JEFF DAVIS provides lighting designs for theater, television, opera, dance and special events. His award-winning lighting design work has earned him 3 Emmy Award nominations, the Los Angeles Dramalogue Award and Philadelphia’s Barrymore Award. Mr. Davis will discuss the powerful functions of lighting for the stage as an integral part of the total visual experience of theater through the principles of composition of light, and how lighting blends the visual elements on stage into a unified whole. He will provide an overview of the practical, theoretical and conceptual approaches for lighting design and technology.
His design work has included the Broadway and national touring productions of the Duke Ellington musical Play On!, revivals of Born Yesterday with Ed Asner and Madeline Kahn, I Never Sang for My Father, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Death of a Salesman directed by George C. Scott, as well as The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, Slab Boys and Edward Albee’s The Man Who Had Three Arms and other numerous Broadway and regional theater shows, including American Buffalo.
Mr. Davis’ television credits include, “Canvas of Ice”, “One Life to Live”, “All My Children”, “Great Performances”, “Live From Lincoln Center”, “Maury”, “Sally”. Mr. Davis has designed 25 productions and 5 world premieres for the New York City Opera at Lincoln Center; Turandot for Opera Quebec; 2006 Festival dei Due Mondi, Spoleto, Italy; and Karusell for Det Norske Teatret in Oslo, Norway.
