Joseph Lizardi was educated in New York’s Public School System, and holds degrees from Bronx Community College and Baruch College. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps. His first two plays, The Commitment and The Block Party were produced by Woodie King, Jr. at the Henry Street Playhouse. This was followed by a production of El Macho by Miriam Colon’s Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre. Mr. Lizardi is Playwright-in-Residence at the Arena Players Repertory Theater in East Farmingdale, Long Island, where many of his plays have received production, among them Blue Collars, The Powderromm, December in New York, Three On the Run, Love’s Comedy, and A John Wayne Kind of Hero.
