Chris Cumberbatch

Chris Cumberbatch is a graduate of NYC’s Art and Design High School and Parson’s School of Design.

He is an acclaimed scenic designer who has cultivated his creative skills for more than 30 years.

His theatrical work includes projects for NYC’s New Federal Theatre and the Negro Ensemble Company.  He has also worked at Voza Rivers/New Heritage Theatre in NYC, Crossroads Theatre (New Brunswick, NJ).

He has won the AUDELCO award for Set Design in 2015, 2018, and 2019, and an award for Outstanding Achievement in Scenic Design at the 2017 National Black Theatre Festival.

He has also designed for films like Spike Lee’s Malcom X, Crooklyn, and Jungle Fever, and Robert De Niro’s A Bronx Tale.

His television credits include Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Saturday Night Live, and Guiding Light.
